Cavaillé-Coll built 20 organs in Paris between 1870 and 1898, during the so-called "symphonic" period, including the organs at Saint-Antoine des Quinze-vingt (1894) and the organ at the Sacré-Coeur Basilica (1898), initially built for the Baron de l'Epée. Both organs have remained close to their original condition. Several smaller organs dating from this period have not been modified much over the years (indicated in the with a * in the opus list). In 1898, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll was still designing the plans for the organ of the Reformed Temple of the Holy Spirit (Paris VIIIe). Suffering from rampant blindness, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll died the following year, on 13 October 1899 at the age of 88 in Paris.
